I got my first tarantula for Christmas in 2006... since then my collection has fluctuated between 80 and 180 tarantulas. Addicting, man!
I find tarantulas very interesting and I enjoy telling anyone who will listen about my little bugs. I will be writing blogs, here, about my "Spider Stories" and I hope you read them and enjoy!
In no particular order and preferably all females:
Any US Aphonopelma species!!
Ephebopus uatuman "Emerald Skeleton"
Tapinauchenius gigas "Orange Treespider"
Citharischius crawshayi "King Baboon"
Iridopelma hirsutum "Amazon Ribbed Tree Spider"
Stromatopelma calceatum "Featherleg Baboon"
Psalmopoeus irminia "Venezuela Suntiger"
Haplopelma albostriatum "Thai Zebra"
Holothele incei "Trinidad Olive"
Megaphobema mesomelas "Costa Rican redleg"
MY ENTOMOLOGICAL INTERESTS
I enjoy bug hunting but am not much on wild collecting. I like seeing creatures in their native habitats... how they REALLY live, especially tarantulas.
MY GENERAL INTERESTS
I love music. I play the clarinet, *dork*, and am teaching myself the guitar. I'll listen to just about anything... but that being said since the stereo in my car got jacked I can spare myself the crizzap that gets played on the radio. *ahem*
A close second to music is art. I do a lot of painting... impressionistic painting. Can't for the life of me do anything realistic. I also like photography. And I'm getting into crafting... sewing and reconstructing old clothes into clothes I would wear. Again... *dork*
I love traveling and wish I could afford to do more of it. I think I like it so much because I don't like the city I live in... it's really nice to get away. ;)
Oh, and I'm also a computer geek. *sigh*
MY WEBSITE(S)
My personal website: Go, Bell, go! “When will you understand that being normal isn't necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage." -anon
The Mile High Bug Club- Not just for bugs but a place for lovers of all exotic pets in the rocky mountain area to connect.
World Wide Tarantula Day-
Our mission is to further the tarantula hobby by promoting the conservation of tarantulas in the wild, encouraging trade of captive bred tarantulas and other invertebrates and dispelling myths about invertebrates through education and outreach programs on August 8th every year.
Hey:) ... I was looking at your want list and I was kinda curious why you chose those spiders out of all of them. I'm just wondering what characteristics they have that you like. (btw the Psalmopoeus irminia is fricken gorgeous)
yeah, talked to some people about MHBC last time i went to the expo in may. i will probably join but my work and parental duties tend to limit how much i can get away 4 excursions (not at all. . . suck!) but i would like to get to know local insecto-chotics if for no other reason than to suck their brains completely dry of information and nutrients. wait, that sounded bad. . .
Yep, this is definitely on of my favorite tanks along with the feeder tank right next it. my centipedes had plings last months and they are all living together pretty peacefully. It's sucks that they only come out at night. right now i only have 3 adults in the tanks along with about 8-12 plings.
Thanks! I'll take a look into them, hair kickers dont bother me.

Welcome! As far as tarantula suggestions... I'd say an L parahybana (Brazilian Salmoon Pink) would fit very well. These get huge, don't burrow and look nice. Cute and fuzzy. Another good one is an A geniculata (Brazilian Giant White Knee). This is one of my favorite species. Both of these guys are "hair kickers," though, so if you have allergies you might want to stay away. I can't think of any non-hair kickers that would fit your req's, though.
Hey Bell, I'll totally try and post it here. I'll try and post it on my forum as well. The pairing was quite a success and so refreshing after the last time I tried to pair my BIG Regalis girl (Galadriel) - she tries to body slam any male that tries to get close to her. I'm going to try and mate her again and hope that I don't lose my male in the process. However, that's precisely why I stood a 30 gallon high tank on its side and made a nice BIG home for her... so the male has plenty of room to flee when he's done. The smaller female was very receptive and sweet and I know inserts were made. Can't wait for the little fuzzballs!! I'll be selling them on my forum if successful!!
yup, live in fort collins. mostly into scorps but I have som nice spiders too. haven't really had time to write everything down yet but that will hopefully happen soon so you can see what I got.
So, I'm looking at Beretta Storms this morning. I like those and they're under $1000! ... as far as the prices I've seen are. You not only get to help me learn to shoot but you get to help me buy one, okies? lol... I don't even know where to begin.
Hahaha.....you're hooked. Sportsman's Wherehouse near the Citadell Mall can get them for you for about $500.00
Yeah i will upload some pics , when i finally find some time for it :) I dont have too many pedes yet , only about 120 in total but trying to get some new species ^^
Oh! I did mate two of my female Haplopelma Hainanum and have some footage from that... will try and get it online soon. I'll be adding pictures shortly.
