From August 8-10 I had the pleasure of visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the Tennessee-North Carolina border. I can only imagine, however, what the landscape used to look like before the arrival of the hemlock woolly adelgid, an aphid-like insect believed to be native to Asia.
