Formicophilia
Posted On 10/23/2007 11:27:15 by RoachGirlRen
I was browsing through ModBlog at BMEzine and found a few fascinating (and yeah, a little disturbing) pictures of individuals using insects in edge play. Turns out there actually exists a paraphilia, albiet an uncommon one, called formicophilia, where individuals are aroused by the sensation of insects and arachnids crawling on and often times biting or pinching their genitals. Considered a form of zoophilia, it was first observed among a young buddhist monk in Tibet, who had no prior exposure t... Read More

Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and TV
Posted On 10/23/2007 09:43:07 by Kendar
So I have noticed a large amount of TV shows and movies use Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches in their shows as pesky little bugs. Does this at all bother anyone as much as it bothers me? In the shows, they portray them as these horrible creatures, but their one of the coolest bugs. I think this is why most people are affraid of them, they're told their whole lives that these animals are disgusting and dirty. It makes me sad. The two shows I can remember right now having them, Desperate Housewives... Read More

I'm so excited right now. I've been waiting for ages for my giant african black millipedes to breed. I have one male and three females housed in the same large bin. I was starting to think it was hopeless and Alon would never do his job, but I little 1cm juvie proved otherwise. I've actually seperated it out so I can keep a close eye on its nutrition, as the adults plow through the food at a really alarming rate. I also sometimes get those little white bedding/food mites, and while they're harml... Read More

Ack, another baboon!
Posted On 10/20/2007 12:58:08 by RoachGirlRen
D'oh! I swear, I'm the only person I know who accidentally ends up with Baboon tarantulas. This should tell me that I really need to study my species more, but to be honest with the deals I've gotten on both of my baboons, I doubt it would have changed my mind. And, to my credit, I did realize they weren't what they were supposed to be, I just didn't realize what they actually were (rofl). At any rate, here's the story.
A few days ago, I bought a curly haired tarantula at a local exotics sto... Read More

Decisions Decisions

So I only have about 10 hissers, maybe less. Only 2 of them are female. I think I am going to breed 2 of them. Both my females are black morph, so I am not sure if I want to make more blacks or see what I can come up with if I breed a black and an orange. Not sure which female either, Stumpy or my other girl. Maybe I will choose Chico or Zeus to be the daddy? Not sure. Decisions decisions.... Read More
