Actually, the AZ Crested Mantis or Unicorn Mantis, I found in AZ was just as shocking as the lil' Yucatan mantid that I found in my hometown in FL. My brother actually got video of the unicorn mantis and we will add soon. Our friend out there said he only sees one of those every 3 or 4 yrs. My pics I took of it came out blurry, but you can get the idea.If you can get one of those, they are beautiful!
You must be in Arizona. I'm really looking forward to being down there collecting and sightseeing this next week!
Yeah, I was out in AZ July 16th through the 23rd on vacation, now I am back in humid hurricane FL where I belong, but I love AZ, Iam jealous, wish I was there again!
I never really paid much attention to dragon fies. There is a pond in my back yard and while cleaning up around it I noticed several different looking ones. Amazing what you see when you really look.
No? I hope you do, there's something magical about invertebrates, something amazing and unique, you can't get the feeling anywhere else.
I find reading the discworld series actually livens me up! Being up late gives you a weird new perspective on the world. I like watching my bugs at night with a torch, doing their bug things. It's oddly soothing, it's amazing what invertebrates do when they think were not looking! Of course the internets is a wonderful place to be, as well, so much to do, so much information.
The documentary has reached the next stage - I've aquired a camera with a macro function! *JOY*
I'm going to see what rare specimens I can get, keep, breed, film and document one day... that's my dream.
You speak my thoughts exactly! You pretty much nailed it, not a single thing I disagree with there.
I'm glad someone else knows exactly where I'm coming from.
This documentary starts with:
"There’s a whole world we overlook, every day of our lives, but this world is so important we wouldn’t be able to live without it!"
Invertebrates are the most interesting things to me, ever, I'm surprised how much people dismiss them but that's humanity. I like to look at our community and see how warm, determined, dedicated and awesome we are! From all walks of life united for inverts! Heh it's a wonderful place to be.
Anyways...
Enjoy the feeding!
I was watching my baby centipedes nibble on a dead cricket last night, so rewarding. Everything is hatching and my room is booming.
That's what I love about Aphids.
Such odd little creatures, so useful, and such prolific breeders!
I first cared for the plant for a week, to make sure it could survive in my room, then I seeded it with a small amount of aphids. They have so far been taking over, leeching the plant of life, it's amazing to watch, I love being able to control them.
Ha! I don't blame you, couldn't handle a person who doesn't know their bugs like that in a relationship. Invertebrates pretty much allways come first.
