Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and TV
Posted On 10/23/2007 09:43:07

So I have noticed a large amount of TV shows and movies use Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches in their shows as pesky little bugs. Does this at all bother anyone as much as it bothers me? In the shows, they portray them as these horrible creatures, but their one of the coolest bugs. I think this is why most people are affraid of them, they're told their whole lives that these animals are disgusting and dirty. It makes me sad. The two shows I can remember right now having them, Desperate Housewives and 28 Weeks Later.

Decisions Decisions

So I only have about 10 hissers, maybe less. Only 2 of them are female. I think I am going to breed 2 of them. Both my females are black morph, so I am not sure if I want to make more blacks or see what I can come up with if I breed a black and an orange. Not sure which female either, Stumpy or my other girl. Maybe I will choose Chico or Zeus to be the daddy? Not sure. Decisions decisions.

I Love My Babies

I think that hissers are one of the silliest bugs. I have mine in a 10 gallon aquarium with paper towel as substrate and egg crates as hides....and a little cave thing. I wake up a lot to hear them rearranging their setup, then they start hissing, then my dog starts growling. It's quite commical :) Although, when you have to get up at 6am for work, it gets kind of old lol. But I love the little guys. I currently have one that has decided to make his home right against the glass in the corner, I poked him yesterday to make sure he was ok, and yep, he was hissy hehehe.
