My Idea
Posted On: 05/14/2008 12:18:59

So I was looking at Sand Dune Scorpions yesterday.  I've been looking to get a desert scorpion for some time.  I also want to a Death Stalker as well.  Both are desert scorpions and I was thinking about getting a ten gallon with a divider in between the middle of the tank.  That way I'd have a five gallon for each scorpion both with the proper setup.

The only thing I've noticed is that I believe the temp differences are about ten degrees though.  See this where I'm wondering if I could keep them both with the divider and still regulate the temps correctly.  From what I've read Sand Dunes need 90-95 and Death Stalkers need 80-85.

I could possibly place the UTH further to the side of the Sand Dune or even place more sand in the LQ's tank and place the heater on the underside of the tank.  That should in theory keep the temps correctly for each scorpion.

It's either this or get two five gallons and two separate UTHS.  It's not the cost its just whether I can actually do the set up for both scorpions.

you could in theory regulate the temps like that indeed, but it would take a good bit of tinkering and you'd probably be monitoring the setups for a week or two before putting animals in just to make sure no one is getting fried or frozen.
it is doable but I'd say it would look better with seperate tanks? gives you more options as Angie said

Hey Jeff  Well u've obviously given it some thought and in theory it should work (either giving 1 of them more heat or deeper sand substrate) personally I'd go 4 the 2 tanks, but only because it would give me more options if I wanna have a move around later (but space is becoming a problem 4 me lol) Let us know what u decided and how u get on  Good Luck
